Mexican drug lords may be importing more than cocaine from the Andean region. It looks as if they’re also bringing in beauty queens and models as girlfriends. The latest case may be that of Juliana Sossa, the winner of a 2008 Colombian beauty pageant, who was arrested Tuesday alongside a man who’s accused of leading a drug gang.Sossa, 25, wore a bulky black parka and loose blue jeans when police took her on a perp walk, a far cry from the revealing swimwear that she dons in publicity videos posted on YouTube.Police said Sossa unwittingly helped them track down Jorge Balderas Garza, who’s known by the nickname “El J.J.” and is suspected of leading a drug gang, when she wrote on her Facebook page that she lives in the Bosques de Chapultepec neighborhood of Mexico City. Police said they knew Sossa was the alleged drug lord’s girlfriend.“I like modeling and I’ve participated in contests like Antioquia 2008 and others that are less well known,” Sossa wrote on her Facebook page, adding that she speaks Spanish, English and Italian. In addition to drug-trafficking charges, her boyfriend is accused of shooting Paraguayan soccer star Salvador Cabanas in the head in a Mexico City nightclub on Jan. 25, 2010. The news shocked Paraguayans, who’d hoped the star would lead the national squad to last summer’s World Cup. Though Cabanas recovered, his playing days are over.
Since you were in the spotlight at such an early age, was it difficult dating and trusting guys who were really into you and not just hanging on because of what you’ve achieved?
Sometimes you get people who just want to hang around because of what I’ve done. But as you get older, dating is about finding the diamond in the rough. God made me so I’m sure he made my counterpart. I’m patient. Until it’s time, I want to work on me and we will meet when we are supposed to.You see so much information about there not being enough available black men for women. From your experience, do you think that is true or is it something being perpetuated by the media?
I don’t know if there is a lack of good men. But when you haven’t taken the time to know yourself and articulate what you want in a relationship, you can’t possible find that person for you because you don’t know what you’re looking for. Most times, if you don’t have yourself together, it’s not going to work. What’s the best way for women to approach relationships?
The best thing is to be who you are. At times, people try to be who they think the other person wants them to be. And if that’s the case, that’s not the person for you. You should be able to be exactly who you are. You have to love yourself first. You can’t love anyone more than you love yourself. And you should have fun. I would rather laugh and enjoy myself than fight all of the time. You can articulate your point without arguing. Relationships should not be a struggle. When you’re constantly fighting, you should just keep it moving.
The lusty ladies of Horndog High are both in on the action now – with a second ex-teacher suing to get her job back after she was canned over a sizzling lesbian classroom romp.Former French teacher Cindy Mauro, who was fired last week thanks to the infamous November 2009 incident, contends no “inappropriate sexual behavior” took place between her and fellow romance language teacher Alini Brito in room 337 at James Madison High School. The teachers’ alleged sexual shenanigans made national headlines when a janitor squealed to a school administrator that he had seen them in a naked classroom tryst.A lawyer for the teachers said the claims are the product of an “over-active imagination” that could be shot down by a now-destroyed surveillance tape.“Not one witness who testified said they SAW Ms. Mauro in any state of undress or committing a sexual act,” said Michael Valentine of Altman Schochet. “Nobody saw anything.”Mauro, the suit says, was simply tending to Brito’s needs by giving her candy and sugar while students sang and danced at a school performance. But a state arbitrator’s report said Brito was topless and on her back while a partially undressed Mauro kneeled between her legs.“Ms. Brito wasn’t feeling well,” Valentine said.Mauro’s suit comes two weeks after Brito sued the Department of Education, seeking to have her firing overturned.
A dimple-cheeked 13-year-old was arrested last week after she was accused of stabbing her teacher on his hands – with a comb, officials said.Antwanise Richardson was handcuffed and taken to the precinct despite statements by fellow Middle School 246 students saying they saw the teacher shove her first, Education Department documents show.“I can’t go to school. I miss it. I’m not learning while I’m at home,” Antwanise said. When a friend arrived to class, Antwanise bounded to the door to open it. Teacher Souleymane Seydi, 61, tried to block her exit from class by pushing her, two students said in official statements.Police say there’s no record the teacher touched Antwanise, saying she threatened him. When he stopped her from approaching the door, she stabbed him with a metal comb, causing injuries to his fingers, police said.Seydi’s injuries from the ensuing scuffle were too minor to merit a trip to the hospital, documents show, but Antwanise was arrested on felony assault charges.School officials and police tried to persuade the teacher not to press charges, Antwanise’s parents alleged. A source at the school acknowledged there was a mediation effort that failed.“They took it too far. They really took it too far. This is a child. She’s 13,” said her mom, Antionette McLaughlin, 41.“I was dumbfounded. I couldn’t believe they arrested her. It was self-defense.”Education Department spokeswoman Margie Feinberg said the principal referred the incident to investigators. Seydi did not return calls for comment. The teen’s dad, Harold McLaughlin, 42, wanted the teacher arrested, but police declined because his daughter was not physically harmed, he said.
A 24-year-old Oregon woman, Inez Lambert, is charged with 21 counts of child sex abuse after she allegedly molested a year-old child and sent videos of the abuse to her Marine boyfriend overseas.A Multnomah County grand jury indicted Lambert, of Portland, Jan. 14 on seven charges each of first-degree sodomy, using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, and first-degree sex abuse, according to CBS affiliate KOIN. Official sources say the Naval Criminal Investigative Service – NCIS – has taken 31-year-old Staff Sergeant Corey H. McAdoo into custody in Afghanistan, and he will be extradited back to the United States next week on a military flight. McAdoo is expected to be charged with possession of child pornography.Sources close to the investigation say McAdoo watched the abuse live via Skype and in videos that were reportedly sent to him by e-mail. NCIS confiscated his computer and other evidence and has turned the items over to the FBI for forensic analysis, according to official sources.Child abuse detectives with the Portland police were informed of the videotapes after a friend of Lambert’s tipped child welfare officials with a phone call.Lambert is being held on $5.25 million bail.
